Backcountry Introductory Courses
ASG1 is a two-day field course designed for backcountry newcomers.
The learning outcomes for certified ASG1 course participants are:
- Understands the science and technology of avalanche rescue devices and tools.
- Confident avalanche companion rescuer. Meet performance metrics (less than 5 minutes) for the rescue of the D2 avalanche victim buried at 1.2 meters in depth.
- Reliably identify avalanche terrain and thoroughly understand ATES 2.0 Terrain classification.
- Familiar with the ASG Bitacorina trip planning tool.
You will also learn about GEAR! ... backpack selection, rescue gear, skins, bindings, and more.

Target Participants: First-time backcountry skiers or those with limited experience.
Format: 2-field days, 1 day of online/classroom
