March 14 and 15 blessed us with some new snow, reminiscent of winter pow days!
The skiing above 7000 feet was entertaining. Once above 8000 feet, the powder was drier, particularly on Sunday.
It was easy to see by Monday, after some drizzle, that the winter recreation at elevations below 7000 feet is over until the next winter. The snow coverage is insufficient to provide safe skiing access at elevations below 7000 feet in the Idaho City Mountains.
At this point, the avalanche forecast for the Idaho City Mountains will be discontinued until the next 2026-2027 winter.
